The Devon Rex, also known as the Devon Emperor Cat , is an English breed of cat discovered in Devonshire in 1960. This breed followed the earlier discovery of the Cornish Rex in Cornwall in 1950.
Devon Rex cats are known for their high intelligence and adaptability to travel by car or living in confined spaces like RVs or apartments. They make excellent pets for both the elderly and children due to their friendly nature.
Development Origin
In 1960, a new breed of curly-haired cat was discovered in Devon, England. This discovery came a decade after the Cornish Rex was found in Cornwall, England in 1950. Initially, it was believed that these two breeds were related. However, when they were crossbred, their offspring had straight hair, indicating that the Devon Rex and Cornish Rex are genetically distinct. The Devon Rex was first officially recognized for participation in cat shows in 1967.
